PROMAD Infotech Foundation has launched its 2026–2030 Organisational Strategy, a five-year plan aimed at expanding evidence-based civic technology solutions across Nigeria and, eventually, the wider African continent.
The strategy builds on the organisation’s existing platforms, including FollowTheProjects and Isunawa AI (“Our Budget”), and centres on institutionalising participatory budgeting and public project tracking in ten to fifteen states.
The tools are designed to let citizens assess community needs, monitor budget implementation in real time, and flag whether public projects are completed, delayed, or abandoned.
The plan sets out several priorities: expanding digital dashboards for citizen engagement in budgeting and elections, scaling hybrid town halls and community-led needs assessments, training youth, women, and people with disabilities in digital and AI literacy, and pushing open-data initiatives to strengthen feedback loops between citizens and government.
Speaking on the strategy’s alignment with broader development goals, PROMAD’s Executive Director, Daisi Omokungbe, said the initiative was designed to reinforce existing frameworks.
“These efforts directly support local, state, national and other regional and international development agendas such as the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and Sustainable Development Goals, especially those related to strong institutions, reduced inequalities, and partnerships for the goals, while contributing to more effective service delivery and public resource management in critical sectors,” he said.
The organisation is also calling on donors, government agencies, philanthropic foundations, and private-sector players to back the plan financially and operationally. Omokungbe framed the effort as one focused on shifting power dynamics rather than simply building software.
“Our civic technology products are not merely about platforms—they’re about redistributing power, enhancing transparency, and enabling inclusive, data-driven governance that delivers tangible results for communities and citizens,” he said.
He added that the strategy reflects a commitment to inclusive participation going forward. “With this strategy, we are committing to scale proven approaches so that every citizen, especially youth and women, regardless of location or background, can meaningfully shape the decisions that affect their daily lives. We call on partners who share this vision to walk with us,” Omokungbe said.
PROMAD says it will continue to operate under its core values: Accountability, Conscience, Transparency, and Service as it works toward its stated goal of becoming Africa’s leading civic tech and innovation organisation by 2030.
