PSC Deploys High-Powered Team to Osun Ahead of August 15 Governorship Election

-

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has deployed a high-powered monitoring delegation to Osun State to oversee the conduct of police officers during the August 15, 2026 governorship election, warning that it has zero tolerance for misconduct by personnel on election duty.

According to a statement issued by the Commission’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Njoku Kalu, the delegation is led by DIG (Dr.) Taiwo Lakanu (retd.), a member of the PSC Board and Chairman of the Commission’s Standing Committee on Police Matters.

The PSC said the team would monitor police officers deployed for the election to ensure they strictly comply with the guidelines governing election security operations and maintain the highest standards of discipline and professionalism before, during and after the poll.

The Commission said the deployment underscores its commitment to strengthening public confidence in the electoral process by ensuring that police officers perform their duties impartially, professionally and in accordance with the law.

It urged all officers assigned to election duties in Osun State to remain apolitical, demonstrate exemplary conduct and safeguard the rights of eligible voters to participate freely and peacefully in the election.

The Commission also warned that any officer found compromising the credibility of the governorship election would face appropriate disciplinary sanctions.

“The PSC reassures Nigerians that it will not hesitate to sanction any officer found compromising the credibility of the election,” the statement said.
