PSC Hands Over 50,000 Constables to Police for Training

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially handed over 50,000 newly recruited constables to the Nigeria Police Force for training. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, August 6, 2026, at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the PSC Chairman, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, JSC (Rtd), Commissioner 1 emphasised that the recruitment exercise was carried out in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and relevant statutes.

Justice Galumje expressed gratitude to the President for his support and formally transferred the recruits to the Police Force for training at designated colleges and institutions. A flash drive containing the detailed list of successful candidates was handed over to the police.

Receiving the recruits on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, DIG Isyaku Mohammed, who oversees Training and Development, commended the Commission for conducting a transparent process. He assured that training will commence nationwide once funds are released.

The Ministry of Police Affairs, represented by Mr. Ibrahim A. Muhammad, Director of the Police Service Department, described the recruitment as credible and transparent. The Secretary to the PSC, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Esq., also expressed satisfaction with the outcome, attributing the success to teamwork among stakeholders.
