If there is one thing we can all agree on today, whether we are educated or illiterate, it is insecurity. Insecurity is a language even the youngest person understands.
The reason we know and understand it so well is that almost everyone feels the pain of insecurity today.
We witness it daily through disturbing news reports. We experience it in our communities as children turn against one another.
We see the future generation, the youth, bullying and harming one another, sending troubling signals to their parents: “Why are you still struggling and sacrificing? Will you truly enjoy the fruits of your labour, and will your legacy survive after you are gone?”
Insecurity is not a computer-programmed phenomenon that will disappear on its own one day. It is a product of human actions, and only human beings can end it by addressing it from its roots.
People must stop doing evil and wrong. We must stop encouraging crimes, offences, and unjust lifestyles that are gradually becoming patterns inherited by the next generation.
The steps toward uprooting insecurity include standing firmly against wrongdoing, making a personal commitment never to act against humanity, and identifying places where evil is being planned, as well as those responsible for it, whether openly or secretly.
The next step is to expose anyone whose hands are unclean, regardless of their relationship to us. This includes siblings, children, spouses, mothers-in-law, fathers-in-law, stepmothers, spiritual leaders, mentors, mentees, benefactors, beneficiaries, friends, admirers, lovers, and even the children of influential people.
The final stage is refusing to accept pleas or pressure to shield such individuals from justice.
If we successfully follow these steps, our society will gradually be cleansed of evil, and peace will return. We will begin to experience a society where properties and valuables remain safe, whether kept within or outside our compounds.
The duty of a secure mind is to ensure sanity returns to society so that we can live peacefully without fear of vandalism, destruction, or theft.
Just be good. Reflect. Stay alert.
