Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have recorded another operational success in Plateau State after foiling an ambush by suspected bandits during a follow-up mission in Langtang North Local Government Area.
The operation was initiated after the arrest and interrogation of a suspected bandit, who confessed and led troops to Nwur Village to recover a hidden weapon. Acting on this intelligence, the soldiers escorted the suspect to the location. However, as they approached the hideout, they came under attack from members of the criminal syndicate.
The troops responded with superior firepower, neutralising one of the attackers. The arrested suspect was also killed in the crossfire. Following the encounter, the soldiers combed the area and recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition abandoned by fleeing criminals.
Troops have since continued exploitation operations in the general area to track down and neutralise other members of the syndicate. Operation ENDURING PEACE reaffirmed its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action and ensuring the safety of law-abiding residents in Plateau State.
