Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation HADIN KAI have thwarted coordinated terrorist attacks in Limankara and Kukawa communities of Borno State, reinforcing what military authorities described as growing pressure on insurgent groups operating in the North-East.
The failed assaults, Securitynewsalert.com, learned were launched on the night of February 20, 2026, but troops repelled the attackers after intense engagements.
Military sources said the development reflected “the immense pressure being mounted on terrorist enclaves, logistics corridors and leadership structures across the theatre.”
According to the sources, sustained offensive operations and targeted strikes on key insurgent leaders have continued to restrict the movement of the terrorists and force them into disorganised retreats.
“In recent weeks, our sustained offensive operations and targeted decapitation efforts have continued to deny terrorists freedom of action, forcing them into chaotic withdrawals under heavy losses,” a military official said.
Meanwhile, troops of Sector 2 operating under Operation DESERT SANITY V intensified operations with a precision raid carried out in the early hours of February 22, 2026, around Lamusheri Village in Gujba Local Government Area.
The operation followed weeks of intelligence gathering supported by satellite imagery and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) air platforms, which identified the area as a major launch pad and logistics hub for terrorist activities.
Despite coming under fire while approaching the location, troops, working in synergy with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, reportedly outflanked the insurgents and blocked their escape routes.
“During the ensuing firefight and exploitation, 15 terrorists were neutralised while several others fled with gunshot wounds,” the source added.
The military further disclosed that several defensive and life-support structures used by the terrorists were destroyed during the operation.
Additionally, five terrorist tricycles and two vehicles believed to have been used for attacks and logistics were set ablaze along with their contents. Troops also recovered arms, ammunition, bandoliers and camel pouches from the scene.
