Operatives of the C4i Intelligence Unit, Rivers State Police Command have launched an investigation into the activities of two men, Precious Cosmos, 26, and Tonye Briggs, 33, who were arrested at the point of buying four AK47 rifles at the sum of N1.3million.
Although the suspects had told the police that they needed the guns to guard and protect their camps in the Bonny/Degema waterway, the police, julianafrancisnews.com learned, were not ready to swallow their story hook-line and sinker. The Command had therefore launched an investigation into the activities of the men.
The Rivers State Police Command, Friday Eboka said that on the 14th of June 2022, “Operatives of C4i Intelligence Unit through credible information gathered that some men from Billee Waterside came to Abonema Wharf to purchase four AK47 rifles. On receiving the information, Operatives of the C4i Intelligence Unit swung into action and arrested two suspects, and recovered the sum of N1.3m that was meant to purchase the firearms. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and that they wanted to use the arms to guard their camps in the Bonny/Degema waterway, investigation is ongoing. The names of the suspects are Precious Cosmos and Tonye Briggs.”
