Borno Police Recover 912 Rounds of Ammunition in Maiduguri

-

The Borno State Police Command has recorded a major security breakthrough with the recovery of a large cache of ammunition concealed in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The recovery was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, who said the discovery was made on Sunday following credible intelligence.

According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer of Lamisula Division led a team of operatives to the Kumshe Jamba Mari area of Maiduguri, where the hidden ammunition was uncovered. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit was immediately deployed to the scene to secure the area before the items were safely recovered.

The police recovered a total of 912 rounds of B32 Armour-Piercing Incendiary (API) ammunition, calibre 7.62 by 51 millimetres.

ASP Daso said the recovered ammunition has been secured, while investigations are ongoing to determine its source, intended use, and to apprehend those responsible for hiding it.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Borno State, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, commended members of the public for providing timely and useful information that led to the discovery. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing aimed at strengthening security across the state.

The commissioner also urged residents to continue cooperating with the police by promptly reporting suspicious activities within their communities.
