Mass Abduction: Speaker Abbas Urges Security Agencies to Rescue Abducted Kurmin Wali Worshippers

-

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has charged the nation’s security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue more than 100 worshippers abducted by suspected terrorists in the Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In a statement on Thursday, the Speaker condemned the attack on churches in the community and expressed deep concern over what he described as a renewed wave of mass kidnappings, particularly targeting soft locations such as schools and places of worship.

“The recent abduction of worshippers in Kurmin Wali is deeply troubling and unacceptable,” Abbas said. “Our security agencies must act decisively to ensure the safe and immediate rescue of the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

While acknowledging the gravity of the security situation, the Speaker expressed confidence in the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, saying it has the capacity to tackle insecurity across the country with sustained commitment and coordination.

“I believe the current administration has both the will and the strategy to confront these challenges,” he said, calling for a collective national effort to make Nigeria safe for lives, property and businesses.

Abbas also commended Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for what he described as “courageous leadership” at a critical time, noting that strong sub-national action is essential to complement federal security efforts.

The Speaker further offered prayers for the victims, saying, “We pray to God for the safe return of the abducted worshippers to their families and community.”

The Kurmin Wali abduction is the latest in a series of attacks in parts of Kaduna State, renewing calls for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities.
