Following the recent appointment of Olatunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Kano State Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad has joined the chorus of stakeholders expressing optimism for a new era of security in Nigeria.
In a formal goodwill message, the Officer-in-Charge of the squad, CSP Aliyu Muhammad Auwal, described the appointment as a strategic move that reflects the federal government’s commitment to professionalism and merit within the Force.
Speaking on behalf of the officers and men of the Kano Anti-Kidnapping unit, CSP Auwal noted that the new IGP’s track record speaks for itself.
“Your appointment is a clear recognition of your distinguished career, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to duty,” Auwal stated. “Your vast operational experience and exemplary leadership have continued to inspire confidence within the Force and among the general public.”
The Kano Command highlighted high expectations for the new leadership, particularly regarding the persistent challenges of kidnapping and banditry that have plagued various regions of the country.
CSP Auwal expressed a firm belief that the Nigeria Police Force is headed for a modern transformation under Disu’s watch, specifically citing strengthened internal discipline, enhanced intelligence-led policing, and a renewed offensive against violent crimes.
“We are confident that under your dynamic leadership, the Nigeria Police Force will witness greater transformation,” Auwal said. “We look forward to a renewed commitment to tackling kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes across the nation.”
The message concluded with a call for divine guidance as the new IGP takes the mantle of leadership during a critical period for national security.
CSP Auwal prayed that the new IGP would be granted the wisdom and courage necessary to lead the Force to greater heights, noting that the entire command wishes him a highly successful and impactful tenure marked by improved public trust and lasting peace throughout Nigeria.
