A United States-based Christian commentator, Eric Hovind, has raised alarm over renewed attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria after an interview with a missionary identified as Brad from “Across Nigeria.”
In a post shared on X on May 9, Hovind said he was left “stunned” after learning that 14 Christians were buried in a mass grave following a recent attack in Nigeria.
“Today, he buried 14 Christians in a mass grave. Two were infants. One was a four-year-old child,” Hovind wrote.
According to him, Brad had personally participated in the burial of the victims and described the violence as escalating rapidly across affected communities.
“Brad was literally there today helping bury them. While on the way to investigate one attack, another Christian community was attacked. He said the violence is happening so fast they can barely keep up anymore,” he stated.
Hovind also claimed that the majority of Christians killed globally last year were from a region in Nigeria experiencing recurring violence.
“Brad shared that 72 per cent of all Christians killed worldwide last year were killed in this region of Nigeria. Seventy-two per cent. And hardly anybody is talking about it,” he said.
The commentator criticised what he described as inadequate international media attention on the attacks, saying many people around the world remain unaware of the scale of the killings.
“The mainstream media should be all over this. Instead, most people scrolling social media today have no idea our brothers and sisters in Christ are being slaughtered while churches are being forced underground,” he added.
Hovind urged members of the public to watch the interview, pray for affected families, and continue sharing information about the attacks online.
“At this point, we are the media. We are how people find out. We are the distribution network. If enough ordinary people start sharing the truth, eventually the world will have to pay attention,” he said.
