A Christian cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has appealed to churches and the international community to pray for 13-year-old David Raymond, who is battling for his life after surviving a deadly attack that left his parents and several other residents dead.
In a statement posted on his social media account on Saturday, Dachomo described the teenager’s ordeal as heartbreaking, saying the boy remains hospitalised after sustaining gunshot wounds to his back and stomach during the attack.
According to the cleric, David’s father, Raymond Maichibi, was shot while attempting to shield his son from the attackers, while his mother, Nanlop Raymond, was also killed. David was reportedly shot as he tried to flee the scene.
Dachomo said the boy has yet to be informed that both his parents have died and were buried in a mass grave alongside other victims from their community.
“The most heartbreaking part is that David has not yet been told that his parents are gone forever. His loved ones cannot find the strength to tell him that he is now an orphan,” the cleric said.
Describing the incident as a painful reminder of the suffering faced by many families affected by violent attacks, Dachomo urged churches across the world not to remain silent in the face of continued bloodshed and the growing number of widows, orphans and displaced families.
He called on Christians to pray for David’s recovery, his surviving siblings, grieving families and communities living under the threat of violence.
The cleric also pledged to continue speaking out against attacks on innocent civilians, insisting that the suffering of vulnerable people should not be ignored.
Quoting biblical passages including John 16:33, Psalm 34:18 and Proverbs 31:8–9, Dachomo prayed for God’s healing upon the teenager, comfort for bereaved families, and justice and lasting peace for communities affected by violence.
The attack referenced by the cleric is one of several deadly incidents that have recently devastated communities, leaving scores of people dead, injured and displaced, while survivors continue to grapple with the physical and emotional consequences of the violence. #Securitynewsalert.com
