The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has attended the 2026 New Yam Festival of Ibagwa-Nike Kingdom in Enugu East Local Government Area of the state.
The festival, held on August 30, was hosted by the traditional ruler of the kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Igwe (Dr.) Emmanuel Ugwu.
According to the Enugu State Police Command, CP Giwa’s attendance at the cultural celebration underscored the Command’s commitment to social policing, community partnership, cultural engagement and the strengthening of police-citizen relations.
The police said the engagement with members of the community and traditional institutions formed part of efforts to promote effective policing and sustainable peace across the state.
CP Giwa congratulated Igwe Ugwu and the people of Ibagwa-Nike Kingdom on the celebration, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to working closely with traditional institutions, community leaders and residents.
The Commissioner said the partnership was aimed at promoting peace, security and harmonious coexistence across Enugu State.
