Lagos CP Attends Election Security Training for Police Area Commanders

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has attended the opening ceremony of a one-day training programme aimed at strengthening police preparedness for safe, peaceful and credible elections.

The programme, held on Monday at the M.D. Abubakar Hall, Zone 2 Headquarters, was organised by the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Zonal Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, in collaboration with the Institute for Police and Security Policy Research.

The training was themed, “Professionalism, Neutrality and Collaboration: Strengthening Election Security for Safe and Credible Elections.”

According to the Lagos State Police Command, the programme forms part of proactive measures by the Nigeria Police Force to ensure adequate preparedness ahead of upcoming elections.

The training focused on strengthening the professionalism, neutrality and operational readiness of police personnel deployed for election duties, while also promoting effective collaboration among security stakeholders to ensure peaceful and credible elections.

Participants at the programme included the 14 Area Commanders of the Lagos State Police Command and their counterparts from the Ogun State Police Command.

The Lagos State Police Command said the initiative underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to improving the capacity of its personnel to provide effective security during elections and maintain a safe environment for voters and other stakeholders.
