In a landmark gathering aimed at fostering stronger ties between active and retired personnel, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, hosted leaders of the Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (ARPON) at the Command Headquarters in Gwadangaji, Birnin Kebbi.
During the meeting, CP Sani welcomed the retired officers with heartfelt appreciation for their years of dedicated service. He emphasised the importance of collaboration across generations of officers, assuring the retirees of the Command’s continuous support and respect for their legacy.
CP Sani lauded the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for prioritising the welfare of both serving and retired officers. He encouraged the retirees to channel any grievances through formal mechanisms, as the IGP remains deeply engaged in pension reforms and welfare advocacy.
Speaking on behalf of ARPON, Chairman ASP Jibrin Iko (Rtd) expressed deep gratitude for the CP’s audience, noting the rarity of such direct engagement. The association presented three key appeals: Creation of a Police Pension Board for unified administration, Full gratuity payments for those under the contributory pension scheme and Removal of the Police from the contributory pension scheme entirely.
CP Sani acknowledged the requests and assured them of follow-up action through the appropriate channels.
This event marks only the second time a Kebbi State Police Commissioner has formally received retired officers—a gesture the attendees described as “historic” and deeply appreciated.
