Delta Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper with Pistol Hidden in Loaf of Bread

-

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspected armed robber and kidnapper after operatives discovered a fabricated Beretta pistol ingeniously concealed inside a loaf of bread.

The suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, of Ogbeowele Quarters, behind General Hospital, Asaba, was apprehended on November 6, 2025, at about 8:45 a.m. during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) at Koka Roundabout, Asaba.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect’s suspicious behaviour prompted a thorough search by officers, which led to the shocking discovery of the weapon hidden inside the loaf. The police immediately arrested him and recovered the firearm, which has been secured as an exhibit.

Investigations are ongoing to determine Chibuike’s possible involvement in previous incidents of armed robbery and kidnapping within Asaba and neighbouring communities.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the discovery as evidence of the Command’s commitment to proactive and intelligence-led policing.

He reiterated the Command’s determination to track down and prosecute all criminal elements in the state, regardless of their methods, and urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious activities.

“All credible information will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” the CP assured, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across Delta State.
