Delta Police Arrests More Suspects Over Killing in Raid

-

The Delta State Police Command has arrested two additional suspects linked to the killing of 31-year-old Alex Adanike in Agbhara-Otor Community, Ughelli, following raids on identified criminal hideouts in the state.

The command said the suspects, identified as Tega Micheal, 26, and Tena Sagbene, 32, were apprehended during coordinated operations in Ughelli and Warri led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations.

According to the police, the suspects were members of a group alleged to have attacked and killed Adanike on January 20, 2026, after reportedly mistaking him for his twin brother. Earlier investigations had led to the arrest of two other suspects, Warri Ochuko and Lucky Okohwoake, who reportedly confessed to involvement in the crime.

Police said the newly arrested suspects were identified by those already in custody as members of the same gang involved in the killing.

“All suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime,” the statement said, adding that they were arraigned before the Ughelli High Court on March 31, 2026, and remanded in prison custody.

The command stressed the importance of proactive policing strategies, including intelligence gathering, raids, and stop-and-search operations, noting that such measures aid in the swift apprehension of criminal elements and help prevent crime.

The Commissioner of Police commended officers for their efforts in tackling criminal activities across the state and urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies.

The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, for the Delta State Command in Asaba.  #Securitynewsalert.com
