Delta Police Smashes Robbery Syndicates, Cultist Cells, Recovers High-Powered Arms

The Delta State Police Command has successfully dismantled several criminal networks operating across Warri, Ughelli, and Sapele, securitynewsalert.com reports.

The coordinated, intelligence-led raids resulted in the arrest of key suspects and the recovery of an arsenal of fabricated weaponry and ammunition.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, lauded the precision of the operations, stating that the command remains “resolute and uncompromising” in its mission to sanitise the state of violent crime.

The crackdown began in the late hours of February 27, 2026, when the CP-Special Assignment Team, led by ASP Julius Robinson, stormed the Ekredjebor area of Ughelli. The team apprehended Oghenemaro Festus, a resident of Upper Agbarho, who had been linked to a terrifying wave of house-to-house robberies.

According to police reports, a search of the suspect yielded one pump-action gun and two live cartridges. SP Bright Edafe, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, noted that the suspect is strongly linked to a series of robberies that have caused significant concern among residents. He added that teams have intensified efforts to track down the remaining members of the gang who are currently at large.

In Sapele, residents had grown increasingly weary of a motorcycle-riding robbery syndicate. On the morning of March 1, 2026, police intelligence paid off with the arrest of 21-year-old Prince Omanure, notoriously known as “Anini.”

Following a rigorous interrogation, Omanure led detectives to a hideout in a bush along the Warri-Sapele Road near the Trailer Park. There, officers recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition.

Police sources confirm that Omanure is providing useful information to help investigators dismantle the rest of the motorcycle syndicate.

Beyond armed robbery, the Command also moved against organised cult violence. On February 27, acting on tips that a notorious group was assembling to launch attacks on civilians, the Quick Response Squad (QRS) raided a building on Okwagbe Street in Igbudu, Warri.

While several suspects managed to flee during the sting operation, three men were taken into custody: Nelson Mudiagha (alias “Diara”), Efe Nyore, and Ebube Ifeanyi. A meticulous sweep of the premises revealed a cut-to-size locally fabricated double-barreled gun and 17 live cartridges hidden within the structure.

The suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity, also known as the Ayes.

Addressing the press on these developments, CP Aina Adesola reaffirmed that the safety of law-abiding citizens remains the Command’s highest priority.

The Commissioner stated that the Delta State Police Command remains determined to dismantle cult groups, armed robbery syndicates, and all forms of violent criminal networks operating within the State. Investigation into these cases remains ongoing as the police work to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
