The Edo Civil Society Organisations (EDOSCO) recently teamed up with TEC to campaign against cultism and wanton killings in Edo State.

According to the Interim Public Relations Officer, EDOSCO, Leftist Aliyu Umweni, the march led by the interim TEC chairman Leftist Austin Enabulele, took off From 2nd East Circular Road  through Upper Sokponba and environs and ended at the Edo State House of Assembly with the Speaker, RT. Honourable Marcus Onobun, received the rally train and assured of his resolve to partner with all critical stakeholders and security agencies in particular, to finding a lasting solution to the menace through legislature.

Speaking earlier the TEC chairman made emphasis on the need for the Edo State young men to see themselves as brothers and not as rivals, adding that those who have not joined should jettison the idea hence the only gain been a member of any deadly confraternity is untimely death which will render their parents devastated.

The TEC chairman reportedly also said: “Our young women are becoming windows and their children orphans and they suffer the stigma their late father left them with.”

The former coordinator general Leftist Omobude Agho, who declared that membership of cultism was worse than leprosy, encouraged family members, friends, and acquaintances of all known cultists to avoid them unless they renounce.

“Edo Civil Society Organisations in its campaign have promised to help persons who are members of any of the secret cults willing to renounce to contact us through the following numbers. Cultism does not have economic value or gives any advantage or promote peace and tranquility but death alone,” said Umweni.
