The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with traditional rulers to combat crime and improve security across the state.
CP Giwa gave the assurance during a courtesy and stakeholders’ engagement visit to the leadership of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council at the House of Chiefs, Enugu State House of Assembly Complex.
Speaking during the meeting, the police commissioner described traditional rulers as indispensable partners in community policing and grassroots security management, noting that their closeness to residents and understanding of local security dynamics make them critical to crime prevention efforts.

Responding to concerns raised by the monarchs, Giwa assured them of continued respect and recognition as custodians of peace and order within their communities. Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Igwe Samuel Okechukwu Asadu, who led the delegation, commended the commissioner for his leadership and efforts in tackling crime and enhancing public safety.
The monarchs described Giwa as “God-sent,” offered prayers for his continued success, and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting police initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security, and community policing across Enugu State.
