The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening leadership capacity and improving officer welfare in the Nigeria Police Force, following the conclusion of a Squadron Commanders’ Training Programme in Nasarawa State.
Disu made this known on April 22, 2026, during the closing ceremony of the training held at the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Training College, Ende-Hills.
According to him, the training programme is part of ongoing efforts to enhance leadership quality and operational effectiveness within the Force.
During the visit, the IGP inspected key facilities at the college, including the simulation ground and shooting range, where he also participated in tactical exercises.
He stressed the importance of continuous, scenario-based training in modern policing, noting that practical exposure remains critical to effective law enforcement.
Addressing cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy undergoing training at the institution, Disu urged them to remain focused and disciplined.
“The quality of your training will define your effectiveness and conduct in the field,” he said, adding that officers must uphold resilience, professionalism, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the police chief commended the Squadron Commanders for completing the intensive programme.
He charged them to apply the knowledge gained to improve leadership, operational discipline, and tactical efficiency in their respective units.
“The Police Mobile Force must remain a highly disciplined, responsive, and reliable tactical arm of the Force,” he stated.
Disu also reiterated his commitment to enhancing officers’ welfare and boosting operational capacity across the PMF.
He assured that efforts would be sustained to adequately equip police formations to effectively tackle evolving security challenges across the country.
