The Inspector-General of Police, Olatuji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in combating human trafficking and organised crime.
Disu pledged on April 21, 2026, while receiving the Director-General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, during a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the meeting, Bello congratulated the IGP on his leadership and commended the Nigeria Police Force for its sustained support to the agency. She called for enhanced collaboration, particularly in the areas of specialised technical assistance and joint operational frameworks, to boost NAPTIP’s capacity in tackling its expanding responsibilities.
“We appreciate the continuous support of the Nigeria Police Force and seek further collaboration, especially in technical and operational areas, to strengthen our mandate,” Bello said.
In his response, Disu assured that the police would deploy their full operational and intelligence capabilities to support NAPTIP’s activities.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to supporting NAPTIP in combating human trafficking and organised crime. We will leverage intelligence-led strategies, strengthen joint operations, and ensure real-time intelligence sharing to dismantle criminal networks,” he said.
The IGP also pledged the support of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the NPF National Cybercrime Centre, as well as targeted capacity-building initiatives and specialised training for NAPTIP personnel within police institutions.
He further disclosed that regular strategic briefings would be institutionalised to monitor progress and sustain the partnership.
According to him, the renewed collaboration underscores a zero-tolerance stance against human trafficking and related crimes, ensuring that perpetrators have no haven in the country.
The NAPTIP delegation included senior officials such as Hassan Tahir, Hakeem Lawal, Mohammed Tamim, Aondona Ortese, Emuesiriere Rebecca, and Nneka A. Ajie.
