The shooter

A policeman, identified as Inspector Bala Abdullahi, has disappeared into thin air after shooting to death two of his colleagues and leaving two others battling to stay alive at the Maiduguri General Hospital in Borno State.
The incident, which happened on March 2, about 8:45pm has left other policemen gasping in shock.
Eyewitnesses claimed that Abdullahi for reasons yet unknown at night, simply went amok and started shooting sporadically, causing policemen and civilians in the vicinity to scamper for safety.
However, three policemen,  Inspector  Gabriel James, Inspector John Agiande, Sergeant Samaila Ishaya and a civilian staff, Abdullahi Tella, were not lucky as the bullets were said to have rained down on them. Two of the policemen died, while the third and the civilian are presently battling to stay alive.
He was further alleged to have set some apartments in the police quarters on fire, before fleeing. Police have since launched  a man-hunt for him.
The fleeing Abdullahi is said to be attached to Mobile Police Force (Mopol 6) and deployed to Maiduguri.
According a Police Situation Report (SITREP), sighted by our reporter, “Abdullahi went to commandant market, inside Police College Barrack in Maiduguri (PCM) and shot four persons identified as Inspector  Gabriel James, Inspector John Agiande, Sergeant Samaila Ishaya and a civilian staff, Abdullahi Tella. They are all attached to PCM. James died on the spot, while sergeant Ishaya was rushed to PCM clinic, where he died receiving treatment. Giande and Tella sustained serious bullet wounds and were rushed to Maiduguri General Hospital, where they are presently receiving treatment. The corpses of the dead had been deposited in the same hospital mortuary for autopsy. The suspect, who under the cover of the night was shooting randomly, also set ablaze the Boys Quarters, where he is living in the college and a block of four two bedroom flat occupied by Inspector Agiande and others. Efforts to arrest the suspect are on, while the motive behind this heinous act is yet unknown. The case has been reported to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) BRS for further investigation.”
