A Nigerian man has taken to social media to lament his harrowing experience of fleeing insecurity at home, only to encounter fresh dangers abroad.
“I left my country, Nigeria, because they were shooting guns there. What they shoot in my country is only an AK-47. Now I’m in Bahrain, and they’re firing missiles. Between AK-47 and missiles, I don’t even know which one is better,” wrote Teniola (@Teeniiola), describing his ordeal.
Securitynewsalert.com observed that his post quickly caused reactions online, with many Nigerians weighing in on the irony of escaping one form of violence only to meet another.
Beniwinn (@Beniwinn) reflected on the broader struggle of migration, saying: “This is the reality of the ‘Japa’ struggle that nobody talks about. You leave home chasing peace, only to find a different kind of chaos. It’s a reminder that safety is a luxury we often take for granted until it’s gone.”
Others responded with humour and scepticism. Uncle Sammy (@ShadowPulse202) dismissed the lament, joking: “Na only you dem dey pursue for that place, you dey run, but cars dey go peaceful. Make una stop all this mumu content this month abeg.”
Meanwhile, some users highlighted the global nature of insecurity.
Nkeiru (@JanetNkeiru) wrote: “It’s sad how insecurity has become a global issue. You run from one danger and meet another. May God protect him and everyone caught in conflict. This shows that safety is not guaranteed anywhere in the world right now. We need leaders who value human lives over power struggles.”
Others, like Ade (@finasource), captured the irony of the situation.
“You think you’re running away from danger, only to discover the world is just rearranging the same chaos in different locations. Man really left AK-47 and landed inside live ‘war documentary’.”
