One of the recently released members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, has given a harrowing account of the five-day ordeal he and 37 others faced in a remote forest, revealing that their captors made it clear from the outset that escape was impossible.
The survivor, speaking shortly after regaining freedom on Sunday, described the densely monitored forest as the undisputed territory of the terrorists, who boasted about their deep knowledge of the surrounding terrain.
“It was unimaginable because when we got there, we knew immediately that it was their dominated territory,” the survivor recounted. “They even told themselves that they are bandits and made us understand that no one can slip away.”
According to the released worshipper, the captors demonstrated an intimate familiarity with the region, including all the routes surrounding the bushes within Kwara and other nearby cities.
“With what we saw, nobody could escape. They know all the routes surrounding the bushes within Kwara and other nearby cities,” he stated.
The captives were reportedly under constant watch throughout their ordeal, leaving them in a perpetual state of fear, confusion, and uncertainty. The terrorists allegedly boasted about their ability to detect any movement within the surrounding areas.
A total of 38 worshippers were abducted from the CAC church in Eruku on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
They were released on Sunday, November 23, 2025, amid rising national concerns over the escalating rate of kidnappings across the country.
