The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, in connection with allegations of multiple rape, other sexual offences, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace and a breakdown of law and order in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, ANIPR, MIPRA, for the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Pastor Okafor is expected to report to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (DC SCID), Panti, on Monday, January 5, 2026, by 10:00 a.m. prompt.
The statement said the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the DC SCID to conduct a thorough investigation into the various criminal allegations levelled against the cleric.
Pastor Okafor, the police noted, has been duly served with an invitation letter through his legal representative and is expected to cooperate fully with investigators as inquiries into the alleged capital offences and other serious crimes continue.
CP Jimoh has also ordered immediate and full security coverage for the alleged victims, urging them to feel safe and confident to come forward and report their cases at the SCID, Panti, where investigations have already commenced.
The police assured that the identities of all victims would be kept strictly confidential and adequately protected. Individuals who may have fallen victim to the alleged actions of the pastor, as well as those with credible information or evidence relevant to the investigation, were encouraged to come forward without fear or apprehension to assist the police. Such persons may report through the Police Public Relations Department at the Lagos State Police Command or directly to the SCID.
Reiterating the command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and fairness, the Commissioner of Police assured the public that the investigation would be conducted in line with the laws of the land, without bias or sentiment.
“The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to maintaining law and order, public peace and safety, and ensuring that all allegations of criminal acts against any individual, regardless of status, are discreetly and thoroughly investigated according to law,” the statement added, stressing that justice must prevail.
