It’s pertinent at this point to ask questions; where did we go wrong with our youths? What will these young men do with N50m?
We’re beginning to create, breed and nurture the kind of youths the society is pressurizing us into having.
We have to kick and change that perceived status quo. We have the capability of breeding better youths.
Society places too much value on importance of money and many young folks are beginning to see the respect accorded to even rich criminals.
Young Nigerians now feel that it’s better to take to crime, but ensure you are not caught. So saddening…
Most Nigerians, even clerics, no longer care how people acquire their wealth. Rather than ask questions, they fawn over them and worship them. Young Nigerians see this fawning…
The rich criminals are often given chieftaincy titles in different communities in Nigeria.
The kingmakers, community leaders and traditionalists know these men are corrupt and thieves, but they still praise worship them. Young Nigerians are watching.
We need to begin to change our orientation. Let’s shame the criminals and praise the upright people in our society.
Let’s also begin to change our value system. Whatever we do, whatever we say, our young ones are avidly watching and copying.
We’re going to wake up one day from our slumber and discovered that every facet of our society and economy, have been taken over by young criminals.
The change begins with every parent and family. Where are the parents of the three young men that abducted and caused the death of the five-year-old pupil?
How did they react when they heard that their children had been arrested for killing a young boy?
Have these boys been bringing money to their parents without questions being asked?
Let’s begin our preaching from there…the family…the parents…where did they go wrong? Where didn’t they go wrong?
