The Nigerian Army has highlighted the growing role of its technology company, Pronto Microsystems Technologies Limited (PMTL), in advancing indigenous communication solutions for the military and the wider public.
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, the Army said PMTL was established in April 2019 to promote the local production of communication and ancillary equipment, strengthening Nigeria’s technological capabilities in the defence sector.
The Army noted that the company began commercial operations in January 2022 and currently operates a state-of-the-art production facility located at the Nigerian Army Signals Barracks, Mile 2.
According to the Army, PMTL is committed to becoming “a leading manufacturer of communications equipment and ancillary products” while delivering cutting-edge radio communication solutions through innovation, research and development in line with evolving technological advancements.
The company provides a range of services, including system design and development, sales and installation, maintenance and technical support, training, and consultancy.
Highlighting PMTL’s strengths, the Army said the company offers reliable indigenous communication solutions backed by round-the-clock customer support, cost-effective products, responsive after-sales service, and equipment designed for easy maintenance.
The statement also emphasised PMTL’s expertise in Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) technologies, including repeaters and communication infrastructure, as well as its ability to seamlessly integrate multiple DMR repeaters with existing radio communication networks.
“PMTL — Indigenous Technology. Reliable Communication. National Capability,” the Army stated, urging organisations and individuals seeking dependable and cost-effective communication solutions to patronise the company.
The Army said the initiative aligns with efforts to promote locally developed technology while enhancing national communication capabilities.
