Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have rescued three kidnapped civilians following a high-precision offensive against terrorist elements in the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of January 4, 2026, underscores the military’s ongoing momentum in dismantling insurgent networks across the North East.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops, supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), intercepted the terrorists at a known crossing point along the Sojiri axis. In the ensuing firefight, security forces successfully neutralised five terrorists.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), confirmed that the operation was executed with high professionalism, resulting in zero casualties for the government forces.
Beyond the elimination of the terrorist cell, the mission achieved its primary goal of safeguarding lives. The troops successfully recovered three civilians who had been held in captivity and seized several AK-47 rifles along with other sundry materials from the scene.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba emphasised that this success is a testament to OPHK’s commitment to aggressive offensive actions and civilian protection. He noted that the operation underscores the critical importance of effective collaboration with local security stakeholders in degrading terrorist capabilities.
Despite the evolving security dynamics in the region, military officials report that troop morale remains high. Security forces continue to dominate the operational environment as part of their broader mandate to restore lasting peace and stability to North-Eastern Nigeria.
