A one-year-old child and 10 women, were among 11 people rescued from a suspected terrorists’ enclave in Zamfara State, says the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Shehu.
According to Shehu, they were rescued following extensive search and rescue operations at Gando forest in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the state.
The image maker explained that on 17th October 2022, a group of bandits terrorists invaded Manye village in Anka LGA, abducted 10 women and a one-year-old child, and moved them to Gando forest in Bukkuyum LGA of the state where they spent three days in captivity.
Shehu said: “On receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Kolo, deployed additional Police Tactical operatives to reinforce the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Anka and vigilante in their rescue operation, a task that was successfully accomplished with the full support of stakeholders especially, the Sole Administrator of Anka Local Government Area. All the rescued victims were taken to the hospital for a medical check, debriefed by Police detectives and handed over to their families.”
The CP commended the sole Administrator, Anka LGA for the full support and partnership during the rescue operation. He congratulated the victims for regaining their freedom and assured them that all the perpetrators would soon be arrested and charged in court.
