A Woman Police Constable (W/PC) serving at ‘A’ Division in Akwa Ibom State (AKS) has been dismissed from service following a severe violation of the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) social media policy while on election duty in Anambra State.
The disciplinary action was taken after the officer reportedly posted operational details and activities from her place of assignment on social media. The violation was compounded by a controversial appeal made in the post, where she allegedly called on President Donald Trump, stating that “Nigerians are waiting for him.”
The police administration further noted that the W/PC was assisted by her civilian boyfriend in circulating the content across social media platforms. The unauthorised disclosure of assignments and the politically charged nature of the post led directly to her immediate dismissal.
The incident comes as personnel from Akwa Ibom State, who were deployed for election duties in Anambra State, are reportedly making their way back to AKS. This dismissal serves as a strong reminder of the strict enforcement of rules governing the use of social media by uniformed personnel.
The police force has consistently warned officers against posting sensitive operational information or engaging in partisan political commentary on public platforms, citing a breach of service integrity and national security guidelines.
