Operatives from the Katsina State Police Command have rescued mother and daughter from the clutches of some suspected kidnappers.
The mother, Hama Sanusi 30, and her 15 months old daughter, Aisha Sanusi, were kidnapped on the 21st of April 2022 by gunmen wielding AK47 rifles at Tsamiyar Gamzako village, Kafur Local Government Area (LGA).
The police explained that following the kidnap of mother and daughter, a combined team of Police and vigilante groups were alerted. The team blocked and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel.
The team successfully repelled the terrorists and neutralised two of them. The kidnapped victims were rescued alive unhurt.
While scanning the scene, one AK 47 rifle with four rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and two locally fabricated pistols with six rounds were recovered.
Some of the terrorists escaped just as search parties were still combing the area with a view of arresting the fleeing terrorists.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda, commended and appreciated the efforts of the police and vigilante in repelling the terrorists. He assures members of the public that the police will continue to deal decisively with recalcitrant terrorists until they are all brought to book.
