PSC Extends Police Constable Recruitment Deadline to February 8

-

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks, following an overwhelming public response and uneven participation across states.

In a press release issued on Monday, the PSC said the application portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026, instead of the earlier deadline.

According to the commission, over 400,000 applications have already been received nationwide. However, a review of submissions revealed significant disparities in state participation. States such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, while Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra posted comparatively low figures.

The extension, the PSC said, is aimed at ensuring equitable representation from all parts of the country in the recruitment exercise.

“All eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with fewer applications, are strongly encouraged to apply before the new deadline,” the commission stated, urging applicants to submit their forms through the official portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

The PSC and the NPF also called on state governments, local government councils, sociocultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to intensify mobilisation and sensitisation efforts to boost participation ahead of the revised closing date.

Reaffirming their stance, the PSC and NPF said the recruitment process will remain fair, transparent, and merit-based.
