Rivers Police Arrest Two Suspects Over Killing of Missing Youth in Okrika

-

The Rivers State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough in the investigation into the disappearance and killing of Sampson Worianime, who was reported missing on November 11, 2025.

Worianime reportedly went missing after accompanying members of his community youth from Ogbogbo Community in Okrika to measure land at their old settlement. Following a petition submitted by the victim’s mother, the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) commenced an intelligence-led investigation into the matter.

The investigation led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Igwe Alex, 26, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Aleto-Eleme Community, and John Mikel, 24, both from Aleto-Eleme.

During preliminary investigations, the suspects reportedly confessed to abducting two youths from Okrika, including the deceased. Police sources disclosed that while one of the abducted youths managed to escape, Worianime was killed by the suspects, who subsequently dumped his body in a nearby river.

The suspects later led police operatives to the location where the victim’s remains were buried. The corpse was recovered from a shallow grave during a follow-up operation.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are said to be cooperating with investigators. The Police Command stated that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other accomplices involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure that all those responsible for the heinous act are brought to justice.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to justice and called on members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
