Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old security guard over the alleged defilement of a 16-year-old girl in the Abule-Ijoko area of Ogun State, with detectives also recovering a locally made firearm the suspect allegedly used to threaten the victim.
The suspect, identified as Abraham Aneka, was apprehended by detectives attached to the Agbado Division following a complaint lodged in the early hours of June 10, 2026, by a family member of the victim.
According to the police, the incident occurred on the night of June 9, when the teenage girl was accosted on her way home. Armed with a single-barrel locally made gun, Aneka allegedly threatened her before forcibly taking her to his residence at Abule-Ijoko, where he allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of her without her consent. He also reportedly attempted to steal her belongings.
Detectives launched an immediate coordinated response upon receiving the complaint, tracking and arresting the suspect and recovering the firearm. Investigators also visited the scene as part of their inquiry.
The victim was issued a medical form and taken to the hospital for examination and treatment following the incident.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a comprehensive investigation. Aneka remains in custody pending the conclusion of proceedings and prosecution.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence, particularly offences against minors, and pledged diligent prosecution in line with applicable laws.
He also called on parents, guardians, and the public to remain vigilant and report cases of abuse or suspicious activity to the nearest police station, assuring that all reports would be handled with urgency and professionalism.
