The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, for what it described as his strong leadership and achievements in tackling economic and financial crimes across the country.
The commendation came on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, when a delegation of NANS leaders paid a courtesy visit to the EFCC chairman at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, where they also presented him with a National Outstanding Leadership Award.
Speaking during the visit, NANS Secretary-General, Shedrack Anzaku, said the association views Olukoyede as “a man of integrity, stellar performance and impeccable character” worthy of emulation by Nigerian students.
“On behalf of NANS, we present this National Outstanding Leadership Award as proof of good leadership and as a recognition of your commitment to youth empowerment, educational transformation, and improving the lives of the downtrodden,” Anzaku said.
He added that the student body is seeking closer collaboration with the EFCC, particularly in combating cybercrime among young people.
“What we want to do from now is to partner with the EFCC in fighting social vices by drawing attention to students involved in internet fraud. When we see something, we will say something,” he stated.
Also speaking, NANS Director of Special Duties, James Uneze, praised the EFCC chairman’s leadership, saying his contributions to accountability, transparency, and national development stand out.
“We cannot talk about development in Nigeria whether in accountability, financial freedom, or effective leadership, without mentioning Ola Olukoyede,” Uneze said.
He explained that the visit was partly to congratulate the EFCC boss on what he described as “successful service delivery” and reaffirmed the association’s support for the Commission.
“We will always support the EFCC and report every form of crime to ensure it achieves its mandate for national development and the emancipation of the masses,” he added.
Uneze further noted that Nigerian students are willing to serve as ambassadors of the anti-graft agency, stressing that students across the country reject corruption and fraud both on campuses and in society.
Responding, Olukoyede, through the EFCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwujaren, expressed appreciation for the visit and the students’ commitment to fighting internet fraud.
He encouraged them to remain steadfast in upholding ethical values, noting that Nigeria’s future rests in their hands as emerging leaders.
