The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected kidnappers and the successful rescue of a 14-year-old victim following an intensive operation in the Bagudo Local Government Area. A locally made revolver pistol and ammunition were also recovered during the search.
The operation stemmed from a report received on November 1, 2025, detailing the abduction of Aliyu Alhaji Buda (14). The teenager was kidnapped from the residence of his father, Alhaji Buda Sambo (55), in Sire Here village, Bagudo LGA, at approximately 12:10 AM on October 18, 2025, by a gang of about five unknown kidnappers.
Acting on credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Ka’oje mobilised a combined team of Policemen and local vigilantes. The security forces tracked the hoodlums to the Sada forest and engaged them in a fierce gun duel.
The police report indicates that the “high firepower” of the combined team forced the kidnappers to flee into the deep forest, potentially with fatal gunshot wounds.
During the ensuing search and rescue operation, police successfully apprehended two suspects:
- Aliyu Alhaji Shehu, alias ALTINE (25)
- Abubakar Umaru, alias Bube (both male, of Orda village, Bagudo LGA).
Crucially, the kidnapped victim, Aliyu Alhaji Buda, was rescued unhurt and has since been treated and reunited with his family.
During preliminary investigation, the arrested suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime, naming four fleeing syndicate members who are still at large: Dogo, Magaji, Bande, and Janyo.
The suspects also allegedly confessed to another kidnapping incident that occurred on October 28, 2025, involving the abduction of Alhaji Alti (70) of Orda village.
A search warrant executed at the house of one of the suspects, Aliyu Alhaji Shehu, alias ALTINE, led to the recovery of one locally made Revolver pistol and one round of ammunition.
Commissioner of Police (CP), Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, applauded the DPO Ka’oje and his team for their swiftness, courage, and professionalism. He urged them to sustain the synergy to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes in the area.
CP Sani has since directed the DPO to transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, to ensure a discreet investigation and the eventual tracking down of the remaining suspects.
The Commissioner called on the public to remain calm and vigilant, urging them to continue providing security agencies with vital, accurate, and timely information for immediate response.
