The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed the receipt of a formal petition submitted by Africa’s richest businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Alhaji Farouk Ahmed.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, and signed by its spokesperson, Mr. John Okor Odey, the anti-corruption agency said the petition was submitted through Dangote’s legal representative.
According to the ICPC, the petition has been formally acknowledged and will be subjected to due investigative processes in line with the Commission’s mandate.
“The ICPC wishes to state that the petition will be duly investigated,” the statement read.
The Commission did not disclose details of the allegations contained in the petition, noting only that investigations would follow established procedures.
The development comes amid heightened public interest in regulatory oversight within Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
