Enugu Police Command Unveils Week-Long Activities for 2026 National Police Day

-

The Enugu State Police Command has announced a comprehensive lineup of events to mark the 2026 National Police Day, focusing on the theme “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

Following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Command’s scheduled activities aim to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public through medical outreach, sanitation exercises, and stakeholder engagement.

The festivities are set to kick off across the State Command, Area Commands, and Divisional levels on Monday, March 30, with a Town Hall Meeting involving security stakeholders.

Simultaneously, the Command’s Directorate of Medical Services will host a free medical outreach at the Police Clinic in GRA, Enugu, to benefit the public and the families of police personnel. On that same day, Commissioner of Police CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa will lead a metropolis-wide sanitation and clean-up exercise.

On Tuesday, March 31, a walkathon led by the CP will take place within the Enugu metropolis, with parallel exercises conducted by Area Commanders in their respective jurisdictions. The focus shifts to public safety and civic duty on Wednesday, April 1, as the Command launches sensitisation campaigns targeting electoral violence and ballot snatching, while Divisional Officers engage motorists at major parks on safe driving practices.

In a move to honour fallen heroes on Thursday, April 2, the CP will officially present checks to the beneficiary families of deceased personnel. The celebration will eventually culminate in a grand finale on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, featuring a ceremonial parade at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Speaking on the significance of the upcoming events, Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa emphasised that this is more than just a formal celebration.

“The National Police Day celebration is a historic and unique opportunity to deepen trust and strengthen partnerships with the people of Enugu State,” the CP stated.

He further urged residents to remain law-abiding and reaffirmed the Command’s “unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property while upholding the rights and dignity of all citizens.” #Securitynewsalert.com
