The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has emphasised that effective security management requires the active participation of government, communities, civil society organisations, and security agencies working together toward a common goal.
Speaking at the Delta State Government Security Summit held at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, on June 17, 2026, the police commissioner delivered a lecture titled, “Security: A Collective Responsibility – The Roles of Government, Communities and Civil Society Organisations in Security Management.”
Delta State Governor, Rt, convened the high-level summit. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for addressing security challenges and promoting sustainable peace and development across the state.
During his presentation, CP Oyeniyi stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, local communities, and civil society groups in tackling emerging security threats. He noted that security is a shared responsibility that requires collective action and sustained partnerships to achieve lasting results.
The police commissioner further highlighted the need for community engagement, intelligence sharing, and coordinated efforts among stakeholders to enhance public safety and maintain peace throughout Delta State.
The summit was part of the Delta State Government’s ongoing efforts to develop effective security strategies to safeguard lives, property, and socio-economic development in the state.
According to the Delta State Police Command, the lecture underscored the critical role of collaboration and stakeholder participation in building a safer and more secure environment for all residents.
