The High Court of Lagos State sitting in Ikeja has issued an interim order restraining further demolition of properties located at Ojileru Street, Ososa Extension, and Toluwalase Street, all within Itesiwaju Ajumoni Community Development Area (CDA) of Oworonsoki, Lagos State.
The order, granted by Hon. Justice A.G. Balogun, directed that the respondents, whether by themselves or through their agents, contractors, or representative,s should desist from demolishing or creating third-party interests over the disputed properties, pending compliance with the pre-action protocol under the High Court of Lagos State (Expeditious Disposal of Civil Cases) Practice Direction No. 2 of 1999.
According to the court document certified as a true copy, the matter, which concerns approximately 30 hectares of land, has been adjourned to December 9, 2025, for a report of compliance. The order also mandates the applicants to serve the memorandum of claim and other accompanying documents on the respondents within 72 hours of the grant.
Reacting to the development, residents of Ojileru, Ososa, and Toluwalase streets under the Itesiwaju Ajumoni CDA have publicly denied claims that they received any form of compensation or participated in any enumeration process related to the demolition.
In a joint statement, the residents declared “We, the residents of Ojileru Street, Ososa Street, and Toluwalase Street, Oworonsoki, under Itesiwaju Ajumoni CDA, did not collect any compensation from anyone, neither did we fill or enroll in any enumeration form. Please, our lawyer has served them a High Court injunction to stop further demolition till further notice.”
The residents expressed deep concern over what they described as an unlawful attempt to dispossess them of their ancestral homes without due consultation or compensation. They urged relevant authorities to respect the court’s directive and ensure that justice is upheld.
The High Court injunction, they emphasised, remains in force pending full compliance with pre-action protocols as stipulated by law.
