IGP Receives Narpon Delegation, Police Pensioners, Promises Improved Welfare Package for Retirees

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, today, 1st July 2025, welcomed delegations from the National Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (NARPON) and Retired officers under contributory pension scheme (CPS) to the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.

 

The delegations, NAPRON led by AIG Paul O. Ochonu (Rtd) and other delegations under CPS by CP Henry Njoku Esq(Rtd), expressed their profound appreciation to the IGP for his commitment to addressing issues impacting retired police officers and pensioners within the Nigeria Police Force, and further highlighted the IGP’s unparalleled disposition in handling matters concerning their well-being and security.

 

The meetings centred on crucial matters about the welfare of serving and retired police officers, with a particular focus on addressing the current pension challenges faced by many retirees.

The IGP and the delegations engaged in constructive discussions aimed at identifying sustainable solutions and ensuring that retired officers receive their due entitlements promptly and efficiently. IGP Egbetokun reiterated the commitment of the current leadership of the Force and the Federal Government of Nigeria to prioritising the welfare of both serving and retired members of the Nigeria Police Force.

 

He assured the delegations that their concerns would be given utmost attention and that proactive measures are being taken to improve the overall well-being of retired officers.

 

The IGP acknowledged the invaluable contributions of retired police officers to the nation’s security and emphasised the importance of providing them with the necessary support and recognition in their post-service lives.

The IGP reaffirmed the pledge of the current administration to work closely with retired officers and other relevant stakeholders to address the challenges faced by Police retirees and ensure that their welfare remains a top priority.
