The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Tijani Fatai, said the Command has made arrests in connection with car theft, vandalism, and unlawful possession of firearms, underscoring their ongoing crackdown on criminal activities in the region.
According to him, on March 27, 2026, five suspects were arrested for their alleged involvement in a car theft syndicate notorious for stealing vehicles and dismantling them for resale.
According to the CP, the recovered exhibits included a Toyota Sienna and a Toyota Camry.
“This syndicate has been on our radar for some time, and we are intensifying efforts to recover more stolen vehicles and apprehend other members still at large,” Fatai said.
Speaking about another development, Fatai explained that on April 3, 2026, three suspects were arrested for conspiracy, theft, and vehicle vandalism.
The CP reported that a Toyota Camry saloon car, a screwdriver, and a torchlight were recovered from the suspects. “We are pursuing fleeing accomplices and receivers of stolen items. No one involved in this chain of crime will escape justice,” he stated.
Meanwhile, on March 29, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m., operatives arrested 52-year-old Adedayo Bello for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The arrest followed a report by a resident after children in a compound discovered a pillow containing suspicious items.
Recovered exhibits included one English stunt pistol, ninety-six rounds of 5.2mm calibre ammunition, and three live cartridges.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect concealed the firearm and ammunition in a pillow in an attempt to evade detection,” Fatai noted.
According to Fatai, these arrests highlight the command’s commitment to tackling organised crime and ensuring public safety.
“We will continue to pursue every lead until these networks are dismantled,” the CP assured. #Securitynewsalert.com
