The Nigeria Police Force has begun a five-day Women Police Leadership Programme designed to strengthen leadership capacity, promote professional development, and advance gender-responsive policing among female officers.
The initiative is supported by the Government of Germany and delivered in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the GS Foundation, the CLEEN Foundation, and the Nigeria Police Reform Secretariat. It brings together female officers from commands and formations nationwide to build leadership competencies, strategic management skills, and contemporary policing knowledge.

He urged participants to make the most of the programme by actively engaging in sessions and applying what they learn to improve service delivery and strengthen leadership across the institution.
In his keynote address, the Director-General of the National Institute of Police Studies, Prof. Olu Ogunsakin, stressed the importance of sustained leadership development for female officers, describing it as critical to enhancing professionalism, institutional effectiveness, and operational excellence within the Force.
