The Nigeria Police Force has stepped up preparations for the 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA 2026), with the Force Sports Planning Committee holding a two-day strategic conference and inspecting sporting facilities in Asaba, Delta State.
The conference, which took place from Friday, January 16 to Saturday, January 17, 2026, was held as part of efforts to ensure the successful hosting of the games scheduled for February 7 to 14, 2026, in Asaba. The theme of the games is “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action.”
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, ANIPR, FCIA, FIPMD, the conference and inspection exercise were aimed at fine-tuning operational plans, logistics and coordination ahead of the national sporting event.
“The conference and inspection exercise was led by the Chairman of the Force Sports Planning Committee, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Fom Pam Joseph, and was designed to ensure that all necessary preparations are in place for a seamless and professionally coordinated police games,” Edafe said.
He disclosed that the meeting brought together senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, including AIG Suleiman Abdul, CP Dantawaye Miller, CP Hassan Gwani, CP Osifo Emefiele, as well as the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, alongside other members of the Force Sports Planning Committee.
Edafe noted that deliberations at the conference focused on critical areas such as venue readiness, security arrangements, accommodation, transportation, medical services and general logistics. He said emphasis was placed on ensuring the safety of participants and the smooth conduct of all sporting activities.
Following the conference, the committee embarked on an inspection tour of the sporting facilities designated for the games. The facilities were assessed in terms of infrastructure, safety standards, logistics and overall suitability for athletes and officials expected from police commands and formations across the country.
“The inspection was to ensure that all facilities meet required standards and are conducive for both athletes and officials who will be participating in the games,” Edafe added.
He said the Force Sports Planning Committee reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a safe, orderly and successful sporting festival, assuring participants and members of the public that preparations for BIPOGA 2026 are progressing steadily.
