Retired AIG Arrests, Detains Two Mobile Policemen For Failing To Challenge Truck Loads Of Soldiers

-

A retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) identified as Joseph Mbu is said to have arrested and detained some mobile policemen because they failed to challenge soldiers loaded in two trucks.

Securitynewsalert.com gathered from a source that the whole drama started after Mbu locked up a town hall in his village in Cross River State, barring community members from entering.

Displeased with the action of the retired AIG, members of the community invited the military. Moments later, soldiers, loaded in two trucks, stormed the community. Some soldiers unlocked the town hall in the presence of the policemen, who watched without trying to stop them.

The policemen, attached to 75 PMF Obudu, have been identified as Inspector Kokotte Isang and Inspector Goodness Etim, police details attached to Mbu. The matter was further said to have been reported by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Linus Ekpo.

The source states: “At about 4:30 pm, sequel to information received from UC Ikom,  ASP Linus Ekpo, unveiled that Inspector Kokotte Isang and Inspector Goodnews Etim, all attached to Retd AIG Joseph Mbu, are all presently detained by their principal at Ikom police station due to the fact that he locked the community town hall to prevent members of the community from having a meeting therein.

“The community in turn reported his action to the military, the army later went to the venue with two truckloads of soldiers and forcefully opened the hall.

“The Retired AIG queried our officers, asking why they allow the army men to open the venue. Secondly, he hurriedly left the same men, who escorted him behind at the topman club at Ikom, at about 9:30 pm on 11th May, 2025, instructing his house guard not to open the gate for them.

“The officers slept outside the gate. At 04:am on 11-05-2025, he ordered that they should return to base, but later changed the order and detained them at the station. All efforts to reach him by the UC proved abortive.”
