Three suspects, including a female, have been arrested for allegedly inserting candles into the private part of some kidnapped female victims while video-recording the action for purposes of blackmail.

The suspects have been identified by Police as Cornelius Ememah, Nelson Aghogho and Ms. Ofuoma Tunde.

Police have described them as fraudsters, rapists, and kidnappers.

These are also the likely charges that will be brought up against them in a court of law.

The suspects were alleged to have held their victim hostage at a hotel in Iwherekpokpor Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area, took her nude pictures and recorded her on video while inserting a candle on her private part.

He would later use the same video to blackmail the victim and her parents into paying a huge ransom. This particular victim, after her ordeal, sighted Ememah and quickly alerted Ofuoma Police Station.

Although the victim was kidnapped on 11th of December 2022, the matter was reported to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ofuoma Police Station, Delta State Police Command on the 2nd of January 2023 at about 5:PM and the DPO immediately launched an investigation into the matter.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, explained that on receipt of the complaint, the DPO immediately detailed a combined team of Police detectives and  Ekiugbo community vigilante, leading to the arrest of arrested Emene.

Edafe further stated: “During preliminary investigation, the suspect made a useful statement that led to the arrest of two other suspects Nelson Aghogho aka Little, Ms. Ufuoma Tunde. They also gave an account of how they kidnapped another student of the school of health and Technology Ofuoma, Ughelli north LGA.

“The Modus operandi of the syndicate is to lure unsuspecting young girls on Facebook, get them to a hotel, drug, and gang rape them, before holding them hostage, later demanding ransom from their parents to secure their release. The suspects’ phones contained numerous sex video recordings of their previous victims, which was also used to blackmail them and their parents. The three suspects, Cornelius Ememah, Nelson Aghogho and Ofuoma Tunde are currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.”
