PSC Strengthens Partnerships with NDPC, Borno Guidance Board

-

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strategic collaborations and adherence to best practices following separate courtesy visits by two high-level delegations to its Corporate Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
The first delegation was from the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), led by its National Commissioner/CEO, Dr. Vincent Olatunji. Discussions centred on the implementation of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, with Dr. Olatunji identifying the PSC as a major data processor. He stressed the importance of safeguarding sensitive personnel data from unauthorised access and pledged NDPC’s support in training PSC staff on data privacy and protection.

Responding, PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), mni, commended the NDPC’s achievements under Dr. Olatunji’s leadership. He emphasised the Commission’s readiness for deeper collaboration, noting that “data is everything” and highlighting the critical role of data protection in fulfilling the PSC’s mandate.

Earlier in the day, the PSC received a delegation from the Borno State Guidance and Counselling Board (BSGCB), led by Chairman Hon. Abba Lawan and Executive Secretary Professor Mohammed Abba Jimme.

The delegation expressed interest in partnering with the PSC to ensure that only credible individuals of unquestionable character from Borno State are recruited into the Nigeria Police Force. They also praised the Commission’s leadership for introducing notable innovations in the recruitment process.

Chairman Argungu welcomed the initiative, assuring the delegation of the PSC’s unwavering commitment to a merit-driven, transparent, and inclusive recruitment process. He reiterated the Commission’s dedication to building a professional, disciplined, and accountable Police Force.

These engagements underscore the PSC’s proactive approach to strengthening institutional partnerships for improved service delivery and corporate governance.
