The Kano State Police Command has officially integrated 30 newly commissioned Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) into its workforce. The officers, recent graduates of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, were formally received on Tuesday by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
During a reception at the Command Headquarters, CP Bakori congratulated the young officers on their successful completion of training and emphasised the high expectations awaiting them in the field. He noted that their arrival comes at a critical time for maintaining law and order in one of Nigeria’s most populous states.
Addressing the new inductees, the Commissioner stressed that the badge they wear carries a heavy responsibility toward the public. He urged the officers to serve as “good ambassadors” of the Nigeria Police Force, prioritising the core pillars of professionalism, integrity, and service.
CP Bakori stated that as law enforcement officers, they are expected to maintain law and order while protecting the lives and property of citizens. He specifically charged them to be approachable, fair, and respectful in their dealings with the public.
A significant portion of the Commissioner’s address focused on the protection of human rights and the defence of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children. He instructed the officers to take a proactive stance against gender-based violence and human trafficking while collaborating closely with other security agencies and local stakeholders to ensure the safety of Kano State.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the 30 ASPs have been directed to take up their assignments across various police divisions in the state with immediate effect.
The move is seen as a strategic reinforcement to boost the Command’s capacity for crime prevention and community policing. The new officers are expected to bring fresh energy to the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security throughout the region.
