The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative, deploying its commands and formations to schools, worship centres, and communities across Nigeria for sensitisation activities in the past week.
The agency’s educational outreach targeted numerous secondary schools in an effort to enlighten students and staff on the dangers of substance abuse. The campaign reached several institutions, including, General Murtala Mohammed College, Yola, Adamawa, Assembly of God Secondary School, Abakaliki, Ebonyi, Community Girls Secondary School, Bakori, Katsina, Girls Secondary School, Nenwe, Enugu, Day Secondary School, Tungan Mallam, Niger, Sacred Heart Secondary School, Kabba, Kogi, Ebenezer Model Secondary School, Onitsha, Anambra, Government Secondary School, Borikiri, Rivers, Government Junior Secondary School, Wakili Bawa, Kano and Baptist High School, Ede, Osun.
In a related development, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended officers and men from various commands for recent operational successes.
He lauded the personnel at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), and state commands in DOGI, Kano, Edo, Rivers, Kaduna, Katsina, Niger, Ondo, and Osun for significant arrests and seizures.
Marwa urged them and their colleagues across the country to “maintain their tenacity, professionalism and balanced approach to the drug control efforts of the Agency.”
